Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige has amassed an impressive eight multi-platinum albums, nine Grammy Awards, 32 Grammy nominations, a 2012 Golden Globe nomination and five American Music Awards. Bluesfest Touring is delighted to announce the Queen of R&B will return to Melbourne in April.
Influenced at an early age by the music of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight, Blige brought her own gritty, urban-rooted style - fusing hip-hop, soul and honest, frank lyrics - to the forefront on her 1992 debut album What’s the 411? The successful debut featured hits such as ‘You Remind Me’ and ‘Real Love’ and went to number #1 on the Billboard R&B/ Hip Hop Album Chart.
"Ms. Blige has established a hard-shell model of big personality female R&B: the sort of music, halfway between hip-hop and gospel that represents real talk and reasonable fantasy; deals with issues of trust, love and dependency; and accommodates midnight fears and self-congratulation.” - NEW YORK TIMES
“Mary J. Blige is best known for being one of the living, breathing queens of R&B, pop, and soul whose mere presence on our planet remains a constant blessing.” - SPIN

Mary always puts on a great show
This was a great show. I would always recommend going to her show
All Hail Queen Mary!!
Opening night for Wolf Traps' Summer Concert Series and one of the best concerts, I've ever been to as I was totally drained from dancing so much!! MJB has taken her life's 'valleys' and turned them into 'peaks' with this tour. It's nice to see a performer on stage with who doesn't need the fancy sets, the costumes, the dancers, etc. It was just her and us and her music and magnificent powerful vocal instrument. She made it a point to genuinely thank her male fans and supporters in attendance but made it clear that this show was for 'all the ladies who know what she's going through". And then she proceeded to leave EVERYTHING on that stage.
2nd time Around
This is my 2nd time seeing Mary live and I enjoyed her once again. The set list was different so not as many of the hits were included during this show which was a bummer. Despite that I still had a great time and will do it again!
Mary J. rocked!!
